Twitter has recently begun to shift their attention to digital content, such as podcasts, via Spaces. They now appear to want to focus on video content as well.

The Twitter app for iOS will soon support full-screen video viewing for a more immersive viewing experience. Furthermore, Twitter appears to want to focus on scrollable video content, similar to TikTok, where users can scroll continuously to watch various other videos.

After you’ve finished watching the video you clicked on, you may scroll up to begin browsing more video content. You’ll then be in a scrollable feed of videos. To exit the viewer and return to the original tweet, click the back arrow in the top left corner.

According to Twitter, the new media viewer’s main goal is to facilitate the search for and discovery of interesting videos.ย The immersive media viewer will initially roll out to iOS users who use Twitter in English.

In addition, the Explore tab will feature a video carousel that showcases recommended clips alongside Tweets and Trends that might interest users with the new โ€˜Videos for youโ€™ section. People in specified countries who use Twitter in English on iOS and Android can now access the video carousel.

The majority of social media platforms seem to resort to video-based content since it is probably what users preferred nowadays. But, Twitter took a safe turn by providing choices for its users on whether they want to enable the scrollable video feeds or not. The company probably learn that it is best not to force the feature on users like what Instagram did a few months ago which resulted in a painful backlash from people.
