Sony Xperia 1 is priced at RM4,299

Back in May, Sony Mobile announces it will exit the smartphone selling market in the Southeast Asia region. We all know that Malaysia is part of the Southeast Asia region where Sony Mobile will stop doing its mobile phone business. However, Sony Malaysia has insisted to continue selling the new Sony Xperia 1 in Malaysia.

Starting today on August 24 to October 6, Sony starts to accept pre-orders for its Xperia 1 smartphone. You can start to preorder the Xperia 1 at all Sony Stores including Sony Store online. Sony Expo 2019 event will be happening on August 30 next week at Mid Valley, centre court. During this event, Sony Malaysia will be showing off the Xperia 1 to the fans and users.

Sony Malaysia first shares the Xperia 1 pre-order update on its Facebook page. From the pre-order image below, we know the Xperia 1 is priced at RM4,299. On top of that, Sony Malaysia will also be giving away WH-1000XM3 noise cancelling headphone worth of RM1,599.

Sony Xperia 1 Specs

On the front side, Sony Xperia 1 features a 6.4″ 21:9 CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED display. According to Sony Mobile page, Xperia 1 is the world’s first smartphone to have the 4K HRD OLED screen. At the top is an 8MP selfie camera which you can use it to take beautiful selfie shots.

It is clear that Sony always focusses on photography features. Which means the Sony Xperia camera need to have special features. For the camera wise, the Sony Xperia 1 features a triple-camera setup at the rear. The first camera is 12MP f/1.6 wide-angle camera. The two other cameras are the 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens and a 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle camera.

Other than that, Sony Xperia 1 also will be using BIONZ X for mobile image processing engine. This is the same technology is being used in the Sony Alpha SLR camera. The Sony Xperia 1 also has the world’s first Eye AF (Auto Focus) technology in a smartphone. With this, you can take photos which focusses on the eye movement.

Under the hood, Xperia 1 is powered by Qualcomm’ Snapdragon 855 processor. Furthermore, it comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The Xperia 1 also supports expandable storage for up to 256GB via microSD card. Powering the Xperia 1 is a 3,300mAh battery. At this moment, Sony did not mention whether the device supports wireless charging.

In conclusion, Sony Xperia 1 could start to go on sale after October 6. In the meantime, if you wished to purchase the Xperia 1, you can also consider Samsung Galaxy Note 10 which is cheaper than the Sony Xperia 1.
