Meta has added a load of new features to its Ray-Ban smart glasses as summer looms. These include video calls and AI assistants, as well as the ability to share what users are seeing in real time over WhatsApp and Messenger. This update comes with upgraded specifications and functionality after the launch of the first pair in 2021.
The second generation of Ray-Ban smart glasses comes fast. They have integrated audio and an ultra-wide new 12MP camera. It is powered by Meta AI, a leading power assistant that is enhancing this glass more powerfully. Currently, it is available in beta mode for people in the US and Canada, significantly enhancing functionality.
On top of that, Meta AI empowers individuals to interact with the glasses through voice instructions. Saying “Hey Meta” will return answers and recommendations based on what one is looking at. This is an added convenience layer, much like real-time translation of foreign text.
This update will also be compatible with video calls, thus one will easily share their views hand-free. No holding a phone while calling on the move; this means it gives a new dimension of interactivity and practicality with Meta AI integrated into the glasses.
Recently, Meta released Llama 3, the most advanced large language model with advanced reasoning. This could be an indication that upgrading AI capabilities is not stopping. With all of these updates, Meta can keep smart glasses at par with the evolving wearable technology.
