We are in the Q3 of 2020 in another four months, the year 2020 will be ending. But, before the end of the year, smartphone makers have unveiled their fast charging technology. After Oppo and Realme unveil their fast charging technology, Qualcomm is joining the fast charging club too. Qualcomm has unveiled its latest fast charging technology. It is Quick Charge 5 (QC5).

Back in 2016, Qualcomm announces the Quick Charge 4 (QC4) which did not really focus on the speed of charging the battery. With the QC5, Qualcomm guarantees that you can easily charge a smartphone with a 4,500mAh battery from 0% to 50% in just five minutes. The latest QC5 will be supporting charging speed of over 100W. In comparison, Oppo and Realme fast charging technology support charging speed of 125W. According to Qualcomm, QC5 is the “world’s fastest commercial charging solution”.

The latest Quick Charge 5 fast charging technology is 70% more efficient compared to the previous Quick Charge 4. Now, the Quick Charge 5 is 4x faster compared to the QC4. Soon we can expect smartphone makers to include this fast charging technology on their smartphones. At the same time, in comparison with the QC1, the QC5 is 10x more powerful. This mean you can quickly charge your smartphone easily.

In case you are wondering does your smartphone supports the Quick Charge 5 fast charging technology? To answer this question, the Quick Charge 5 fast charging technology is only supported on Qualcomm 865 and Qualcomm 865+ processors. According to Qualcomm, it is currently sampling the QC5 with its customers. We can expect the QC5 to be commercially available to smartphones in Q3 2020.

In conclusion, fast charging technology is real. The QC5 can fully charge your smartphone from 0% to 100% in just one hour. To know more about the latest Quick Charge 5, you can read it from the Qualcomm website.
