The Pixel Watch 3 is the best version of Google’s wearable to date. The next step up delivers a 45mm screen and extended battery life. It also has improved tracking functionality and UWB support, so it could be worth the switch if you own an older wearable.
But the show stopper is Loss of Pulse Detection. This feature made a debut when the Pixel Watch 3 launched in August. It can perceive if the wearer is nowhere without his pulse and can react accordingly. This function can be a lifesaver in emergencies.
It did not offer that feature at launch but is now deploying it in Europe. Assemble Debug has shown that a recent update to the Pixel Watch app brings with it support for Loss of Pulse Detection. This update lays the foundation for it to be more safe.
The watch offers a 20-second opportunity to reply once one is triggered. An audio alarm will occur and call for the status confirmation from the user. And, if no response is found within 60 seconds, the watch will call emergency services with critical details.
Loss of Pulse Detection, as yet, is only accessible in Europe. Currently, the rollout spans the UK, France and Switzerland. Meanwhile, Google is still waiting for FDA clearance in the US which is why it has not launched quite yet stateside.
Loss of Pulse Detection uses AI with the help of advanced sensors to provide you with accurate readings. The faculty examines the loss of pulse with other motion data to prevent false positives. This is next-level wearable technology for health and safety.
