Oppo And OnePlus Smartphones Are Banned In Germany

In July, Nokia won a court case against Oppo and OnePlus. The telecommunication giant is well-known for supplying 5G technology equipment, particularly in Europe. The court found that Oppo and OnePlus were using 5G technology in their smartphones without paying for the necessary patents, basically stealing from Nokia. Due to this, OnePlus and Oppo phones have been banned from sale in Germany.

Unfortunately, Oppo failed to appeal this decision and is now complying with the court order to officially stop all smartphone sales in the country. While existing OnePlus and Oppo customers in the region will continue to receive support and be able to use the devices without restriction, new customers will have to look elsewhere for the foreseeable future.

Not only that, it seems that the OnePlus Germany website no longer allows customers to buy any smartphone even though the site looks like everything is functioning well. As pointed out by 9to5Google, OnePlus, the more popular brand in the country does not seem to have recognised the change and kind of concealing the fact that sales are suspended until further notice.

Although the dispute started in Germany, it is possible that it could spread across the rest of Europe in the future if no mutual agreement is achieved between Oppo and Nokia.ย
