Apple’s M4 Mac mini will feature a slew of ports, none of them USB-A. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is killing USB-A ports with the new release. In both its base and Pro models, the coming Mac mini will feature five USB-C ports, Ethernet, HDMI, and a headphone jack. Gurman also noted that the Mac mini with an M4 Pro chip would have an internal power supply.
On the other hand, Apple’s development of a more affordable version of the Magic Keyboard is in progress. This new keyboard could be launched at most mid-2025. The company had recently introduced a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro this year. Gurman suggests that the new keyboard would thus target entry-level iPads or even the new Air model of the iPad.
The standard Mac mini ships to warehouses in September, while the Pro model will follow in October. This discarding of USB-A ports puts the nail in the coffin of truly archaic connectivity. The forthcoming Magic Keyboard will join a growing range of devices from Apple already available.
