Samsung has just officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 2 during its Unpacked 2 event which took place on 1st September 2020. Before the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 was unveiled, the technical specs have been leaked online. And now, the device is officially available for pre-order. But before that, you should first ask yourself whether is it worth buying the Galaxy Z Fold 2 for RM8K?
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Specs
First of all, let’s talk about the official technical specs of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. We know the fans are surely excited when Samsung launches its second generation foldable smartphone. But with the price point of approximately RM8K, you need to consider it first. As usual, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes in two types of display. One is the cover display and the other one is the inner display.
For the Cover display wise, the Z Fold 2 has a 6.2″ Super AMOLED display. This comes with a 90Hz screen refresh rate and also it is protected with the Corning Gorilla glass. Whereas, the folded display comes with a 7.6″ Dynamic AMOLED display. It has a 120Hz of screen refresh rate.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor. With this processor, the Fold 2 is mated with a 12GB of RAM and a 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The highest model comes with a 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. However, there is no support for expandable storage in the Galaxy F Fold 2. For the OS wise, the device runs on the latest Android 10.
Speaking about the camera, the rear cameras design is similar to the latest Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with a triple camera setup where all the three cameras is a 12MP sensor. First is the main camera, and then the telephoto camera and then an ultra-wide camera. Thank god, Samsung did not include the macro camera for the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Keeping the lights on is the dual battery 4,500mAh battery which comes with a 25W fast charging brick via USB-C. The Z Fold 2 also supports 11W fast-wireless charging and also 4.5W of reverse wireless charging.
Is the Fold 2 worth?
Honestly, Samsung have done same major upgrades to the Z Fold 2 compared to the first generation Fold. But, at the price of RM8K, personally we felt, it’s not worth buying now. One of the reason is, the folded design still has the gap between the cover display and folded display. Unlike the Huawei Mate X which closes the gap tightly.
Other than that, we feel that spending RM8K for a smartphone especially during this pandemic period is not worth. Hundreds thousands of people out there are jobless now. Anything can happen to anyone. With the RM8K, probably it could be useful during the emergency cases. And also, the Z Fold 2 is made for the business people who mostly uses their smartphone as their PC. If you are in that category, then we will strongly recommend getting the Z Fold 2.
With similar specs, there are many smartphones out there. Even the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is worth buying too. Additionally, the Note 20 Ultra also comes with similar specs as the Z Fold 2.
In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 has some great specs compared to its first generation Fold. Share us your thoughts on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the comment section below.
