Google bans Huawei Mate 30 to use Google apps

After the release of Huawei P30 series smartphone, Huawei soon will be launching Huawei Mate 30 series smartphone in September. At this moment, Huawei Technologies is still under the Entity List. Which means they could not continue doing business with US companies.

In order for them to continue doing business with the American companies, either the US government has to remove Huawei from the Entity List or the US government has to provide a temporary license for Huawei. Three months ago, the US government provides a 90-days temporary license for the Chinese tech companies so that they can continue to do their business with the US tech companies.

After the 90-days temporary license ends, the US government has decided to extend the temporary license for another 90-days. With this Huawei can continue to launch Huawei Mate 30 series smartphone on September.

A Google spokesman has provided Google’s update to Reuters. According to the Google spokesperson, the temporary license does not provide additional supports for Huawei’s Mate 30 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro. This means if you are planning to purchase Huawei Mate 30 or Huawei Mate 30 Pro, you might not be able to use any of the Google apps.

In conclusion, the Huawei Mate 30 series smartphone will be the first flagship device to be without Google apps and services. However, the latest Huawei nova 5T which launches earlier this month is preloaded with Google apps and services. One of the possible reason for the nova 5T to preloaded with Google apps and services is because the device registration is made earlier before the US government bans Huawei.
