Since the world is moving towards digital, the Malaysia government has given a confirmation that it will impose a 6% digital tax to all the digital service. This was confirmed back during the Budget 2019 by the Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng. Now, Facebook says that it will be charging the 6% digital tax to Malaysians starting 1st January 2020.

If you are a Facebook business owner, then probably you might have received the notice from Facebook. Facebook will charge you the service tax when you advertise your business on the Facebook platform. According to Facebook, it will charge you $6 once you reach the $100 billing threshold. The above calculation is just a calculation on how Facebook charges you the digital tax.

In a nutshell, Facebook is not the first company to roll out this feature. Apart from Facebook, Google has also made an announcement that it will charge 6% digital tax in Malaysia. Soon, even Netflix also will be charging 6% of digital tax.
