Besides unveiling the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE, Apple has also unveiled the new iPad Air. For the first time, the iPad Air arrives in three new unique colours. We are sure kids would love those colours.
First of all, Apple has redesigned the new iPad Air which looks alike the new iPad Pro. Another thing to note about the new iPad Air is the design looks similar to the upcoming long rumoured iPhone 12. Well, if the rumours are true then we can strongly say that this is how the iPhone 12 is going to be.
The new iPad Air Technical Specs
About the specs, the new iPad Air features a 10.9″ Liquid Retina Display. This is the similar display being used by the new iPad Pro too. What Apple has done compared to the previous iPad Air is, it has removed the Home button from the front display. Now, the iPad Air has the Touch ID sensor which is added on the power button itself. This makes us to think that, could possibly Apple add the Touch ID for the upcoming iPhone 12 on the power button while keeping the Face ID too? That’s something we need to think about. Under the hood, the new iPad Air is powered by Apple’s new A14 Bionic chip. Sorry guys, there is another rumour for the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 will be running on this similar processor too. Back to the iPad Air, with the A14 Bionic chip, the CPU performance increases by 40%. Whereas, for the graphics-wise, its 30% faster now. Games are going to be incredible in the new iPad Air.
After such a long time, Apple has finally replaces the lightning port with the USB-C port. Moving forward, you can connect cameras and external display to the iPad Air directly. Apart from that, files can be transferred in lightning speed by using the USB-C port.
At the camera department, Apple still remains the front with the 7MP FaceTime HD camera. Apple knows that many people are not going to use the front camera to take selfies. Most of the time users prefer to use a smartphone rather than a tablet when it comes to taking photos. The rear features a 12MP main camera. You can record 4K videos at 60fps and 1080p videos at 30fps using the front camera.
Interestingly, for the first time ever Apple has included unique colours for the new iPad Air. The new iPad Air comes in five colours which are silver, space grey, rose gold, green and sky blue. The unique colours which we think kids are going to love is rose gold, green and blue.
For the battery wise, the new iPad Air features a 28.6 watt-hour rechargeable battery. As we told previously, you can easily charge the iPad Air using the USB-C port. Apple also promises that the new iPad Air provides all-day battery life. Before we forget about the Apple Pencil. The new iPad Air also supports both the Magic Keyboard and the 2nd generation Apple Pencil.
The price of the new iPad Air starts at RM2,599 for the 64GB WiFi model and RM3,149 for the 64GB WiFi + Cellular model. For the 256GB WiFi model is priced at RM3,249 and the Cellular model is priced at RM3,799. At the moment of writing this article, Apple has not reveal the launch date of iPad Air in Malaysia. But, we are expecting the new iPad Air to be available by mid of November though.
In conclusion, the new iPad Air looks cool. Especially the colours are unique. You can find more info about the new iPad over at Apple’s website.
